Mac ‘n’ cheese: Urban Standard beating the mid-week blues!

I am catastrophically failing with all my healthy good intentions from my yoga retreat. 😦 But coming back to the grizzly grey and rainy days made me crave all the comfort food! And who would not be tempted by an evening that revolves around one of the ultimate comfort foods, mac ‘n’ cheese!!

From now on, Wednesday evenings are all about #MidWeekMac at the Urban Standard on Gloucester Road. Offering seven different variations (yes seven!) there is a topping to suit every taste buds. Options range from the gorgeously rich beef and blue, to the indulgent shrimp or the surprisingly wonderful chimichurri sweet potato.

Super hungry? You can ramp it up with the Mega Mac Fries – a dish of spicy fries, pulled pork, mac’n’cheese, BBQ sauce and sour cream. Dear Lord!

Not enough carbs for you? Choose one of the burger options, consisting of breaded mac ‘n’ cheese fritters in a bun with a choice of pulled pork, beef patty & bacon or smashed avocado! OOOOF!!

Cheesy tunes topped off the evening. Although the little bit of chair dancing to Peter Andre – Mysterious Girl did nothing to counteract the immense amount of food I consumed!

All photos thanks to Shotaway and SAYNOMORE (all my photos are hidden in the darkness!)

Sweetpotato
Surprisingly one of my faves. Top tip to stir it all up to get sweet potato, chimichurri and mac ‘n’ cheese all in every bite

Go CAERPHILLY and pace yourself to try as much as you can as the next one could be even FETA! You will be in for a really GOUDA evening. You would be EMMENTAL not to try this. (Phew… got those out of my system).

Please note: the meal was received free of charge, but this in no way impacted on my opinion. We were not obliged to write a positive review, and the venue did not see this review before it was put up on the site.
